My visual timeline for this trailer shows that the main shots used in the clip are close ups. Drama films are known to have a lot of emotion, with is best shown when using close ups or extreme close ups. This is shown in the trailer when Rebecca Hall is shown crying. I believe that this was the best camera shot for this shot as it conveys the characters feelings perfectly. A lot of mid and long
shots are also used in the trailer. They are appropriate to show less detail in the shot, for example when the men in the masks are shooting at people. There are also two points in the trailer where the screen goes black. These shots have been created to add tension to the scene.
Tension is also built by the eerie sound effects and the fast paced music. The music stops at 1:25 and the last sentence starts at 1:26. I believe that this has been designed to increase the tension further and is a good way to end the trailer, as it will encourage people to watch the film. Another audio effect is evident when you can hear police sirens. This is also a good way of increasing the tension within the trailer and film. The police sirens also emphasise the fact that the film is a crime genre.
As this is a trailer, the titling in the clip emphasises the production company etc. It also gives the names of the actors at the end, along with the name of the film.
Rebecca Hall plays Claire Keesey
Blake Lively plays Kristin Coughlin
Jeremy Renner plays James Coughlin
Jon Hamm plays FBI SA Adam Frawley
